Spatial Inquiries

and THE ARCHITECTURE OF GESTURE series

These two bodies of work are essentially the same series just spanning different dates. The Architecture of Gesture series began in 2009. Spatial Inquiries was a return back to that body of work in 2022. I consider these works to be part of an overarching investigation into playing with gestural abstraction within simplified architectural spaces. My interdisciplinary practice is rooted in this navigation of ambiguous, architectural spaces under the umbrella of loss and transition.

The frame, the door, or the tray in my work all symbolize the act of painting itself, the vehicle in which I process the world and strive to regain stability and balance. I am interested in conveying a sense of the unknown within layered architectural formats.

Works are available unless otherwise noted private collection or not available. See available works on paper from this series scrolling to bottom.
